

Barbara Gail Embry Easley, a native and current resident of Jackson, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home on December 15, 2023. She was born July 23, 1945, to Alma Rae Brock Embry and Robert Wiley Embry. She attended Jackson Public Schools and was a 1963 graduate of Provine High School. She attended Delta State University, where she met her husband, Larry Easley. They were married in 1965, and their children, Kim Easley Veazey and Steve Easley, were born in Jackson. She was a member of Ridgeland Baptist Church and then a longtime member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. She was a kindergarten teacher at Colonial Heights for several years and then completed her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Millsaps College, after which she returned to teaching for several more years, retiring about the same time Larry retired from the CPA profession. Barbara was a superb cook and truly enjoyed preparing delicious and healthy meals for her family. She also enjoyed her big screen television, on which she never missed tennis, golf, football, NASCAR and “Judge Judy.” She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma Rae and Robert (“Red”) Embry. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry Easley; sister Rebecca Embry Stepan of Austin, Texas; daughter Kim Easley Veazey of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; son Steve Easley of Madison, Mississippi; and three grandchildren, Claire Francis of Denver, Colorado; Daniel Easley of Petal, Mississippi; and Edward Francis of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She requested that her body be donated to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for research purposes, after which she will undergo cremation. A small private family service will be held at a later date.
