Barbara O. Jones

There will be a Memorial Service at 10:00 am Monday, June 8, 2020, at Pinelake Madison – Social Distancing will take place. Jason Smith of Pinelake Madison will be officiating. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Parkway Funeral Home.

Barbara was born in Attala County, Mississippi, on July 24, 1933. At the age of six, Barbara went to live at The Baptist Children’s Village, formerly named The Baptist Children’s Orphanage. She met her husband, Thadius Milford Jones Sr. while there. As eighth graders Barbara and Thad both received The American Legion Award. While attending she was active in volleyball, tennis, softball and was a lifeguard. She and Thad graduated in 1952 from Central High School and were married on August 24, the same year. They were married for 67 years.

In 1969, they moved from Jackson to Clinton where they lived for 23 years. Barbara and Thad worked together for 32 years at Old Dominion where she served as Office Manager. They both retired in 1999. They purchased a second home in West Palm Beach, Florida and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Everyone who knew her loved her. She was kind, gentle and loyal, always putting the needs of others before her own. She lived by Mark 12:31, “Love your neighbor as yourself”. Their home was always welcoming to others.

Barbara is survived by her spouse, Thadius Jones Sr. and daughters, Donna Palmire (Bill), Brenda Alexander (Mark), her son Thadius Milford Jones Jr, and her son in law Jimmy Gray.

Her grandchildren are Renee Davidson (Mark), Jackye Barbour, Chris Palmire (Shannon), Jessica MacFarland (Matt), Jarrod Warwick (Amy), Kayla Adair (Justin), Marcus Alexander, Nicholas Alexander, and Olivia Jones. Also, eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara is preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia Gray, her parents Robert and Lilian O’Briant, her three sisters and two brothers.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The Baptist Children’s Village, 114 Marketridge Drive, Ridgeland, MS, 39157.
