Barbara Ruth Statham, 97, died Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Madison County Nursing Home, Canton, Ms. Graveside Services will be Monday May 20, 2024 at 11:00 am at Parkway Memorial Cemetery Ridgeland, MS., with visitation from 10:00-11:00 am.
Mrs. Statham was born April 15, 1927 in Gloster, MS to Harry Cullen and Zelma Smith Clark. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dewitt Statham, son Chuck Statham, son-in-law Darrell Pitts, and brother Champ Clark.
Mrs. Statham attended Gloster Public Schools & Draughons Business College in Jackson, Ms. While attending business college she was introduced to her future husband of 61 years on a blind date, Charles Dewitt Statham. They eloped and were married July 2,1946. She was a dedicated and involved member of St. Lukes United Methodist Church of Jackson. Her favorite pastimes included: cooking, needle work, working as a volunteer at the Methodist Rehab Center and providing a loving home for her family.
She is survived by her son Mike (Willa) Statham of Gulfport, MS, daughter Vicki Pitts of Madison, MS, daughter-in-law Mamie Statham of Baton Rouge, LA and beloved nephew Cullen Clark of Birmingham, AL. She found great joy through her grandchildren: Shelli Wargo and husband Andrew, Chris Statham, Sarah Lloyd and husband Chris, Joe Statham and wife Adrienne, Ashley Connell and husband Landon, and Josh Pitts and wife Amber and 11 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank The Seasons Assisted Living and Madison County Nursing Home for their compassion and care of Mrs. Statham over the past 8 years.
