

Bobbie Vance Hubbard, 87, passed away on August 22, 2015 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Bobbie was born in Union, MS to Thomas Burk Vance and Nealie Wolverton Vance on September 13, 1927. She was married to John William “Bill” Hubbard and had two children, Beverly Hubbard Burkhalter and Dale Hubbard (Sandra).
Bobbie had a notable high school career where she served as Secretary of her senior class and was a star forward on the ladies basketball team. In life, Bobbie succeeded at everything she did. She was a prominent member of the Women in Construction, a national group of women who worked in and supported the construction industry. She served twice as the President of the local chapter and served at the national level as well. From 1972 until her retirement, she was an owner of and operated Hubbard-Lawson Building Specialties in Jackson, MS. Through it all she unselfishly raised two children alone after the death of her husband in 1958. She was a wonderful provider, a nurturer, a giver, a dedicated hard worker and she had the kindest heart of anyone on earth.
She is survived by her children, her brother Douglas Vance, grandchildren Philip Burkhalter (Kristen), Matthew Burkhalter, Neilson Hubbard, and Aubrey Hubbard Farmer, and two great grandchildren Layla Claire Farmer and Hunter Patrick Burkhalter.
Visitation will be at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS on Tuesday August 25, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and from noon until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday August 26, 2015. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday with graveside services to be conducted at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery in Clinton, MS immediately thereafter.
The family would like to express thanks to the staff at Hospice Ministries, The Blake at Township, the nurses and physicians who attended “Ms. Bobbie”, and a special thanks to the care givers who were so kind and helpful to her, especially her friend Ethel Kemp. Bobbie’s legacy will continue in the hearts of the many people she has touched in her lifetime and she will forever be missed by many.
