Byron Gaines ‘BG’ West, Jr., 68, passed away on September 9, 2022, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. Visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, and from10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with inurnment to follow.
Mr. West is survived by his wife Kathryn Joy Gilbert West and sister Joy West Christopher (Bobby), treasured nieces Renee Hardwick, Paula Malinowski (Scott), Kelly Dixon (Tripp), and Lesley Otts (Jeremy). He is also survived by mother-in-law Beverly Gilbert, sister- in-law Patricia Smith (David), as well as seven great nieces, two great nephews, and a host of cousins.
He was born on May 29, 1954, to the late Byron Gaines West, Sr. and Ruby Craft West. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and completed his pharmacy degree at Samford University in Birmingham. He was a practicing pharmacist at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center for 42 years. His favorite pastimes were antique cars, spending time at the beach, travelling, and cruises with his wife.
