You changed my life when you taught my sunday school class at CHBC. You changed it again when you gave me a job and then taught me how to do it. You were always teaching and always giving. You showed me what I thought I already knew-that every life can be a ministry. 
How blessed you were to see your grandchildren! I know you are rejoicing with your Savior now and I will be glad to hug you when we meet again.

I just learned of Dr. Metcalf’s passing. I cannot express in words how her spirit, personality, bed side manner, and southern hospitality made me fall in love with her. When my husbands job transferred us to Mississippi, these Los Angeles natives were welcomed with open arms and smiles, especially by Dr. Metcalf and her staff. She’s the kind of dentist you didn’t mind visiting. I even tried convincing her to move to DC, so I could keep her!  She was one of a kind. God this hurts. Really hurts. God bless her family; her boys and especially those grand babies. 

I will truly miss you. No matter how I was feeling when I came into your office, your smile would absolutely light up the room. You always made me feel welcomed and comfortable when being at the dentist office. Thank you for taking care of my teeth and being such a great dentist and loving person. May God be with your loving family.

Today I found out that my favorite dentist passed away.   I was getting a filling and tooth extraction when I asked one of the hygienists how she was doing.  Come to find out that she lost her battle with cancer and passed away about 3 weeks ago.  😢  That rocked me to my core.   Dr Metcalf was the sweetest person I know that cared for her patients.   She made sure that we were comfortable and made things simple so we could understand what's going on.   She established that trust between doctor and patient that couldn't be broken.   She was family and will definitely be missed.   We love you Carla Metcalf and we will meet again when that glorious day comes.   🙌🏾🙏🏾❤❤❤

Lady, lady, lady.... There are really no words to describe how incredible you are. I have been your patient since I was a little girl. The tears I cry are tears of sadness and joy. So gentle and one of the sweetest person I have EVER met. I am so honored to have come across such an amazing, down-to-earth Doctor. Honestly, if I didn't think my teeth would rot, I would not go to another dentist office! Lol. But I know you wouldnt want that. This picture is when you gave me confidence like NO other.

My family  and I have been a patient of yours for many years. You were a very kind hearted and caring dentist. I remember us sharing the moments about our children and your grand children. You will be very much missed. But the sweet memories of coming to your office to get dental work done every six months. Our thoughts and prayers will be with the family. God blessings upon each and every one of you. Be strong and keep the faith. For to live is Christ but to die is gain.

Carla and I were good friends during our first years at Vanderbilt. She was smart, a faithful friend, and so much fun. I had not seen Carla in many years, but I enjoyed seeing her family news and photos on social media. I'm glad that she had such a wonderful family and was held in such high regard by her dental patients. Sending blessings to her family.

Dr Metcalf has been my family dentist for over 15 years she had a heart of gold she will be missed ....

She was my dentist for over 15 years! I’m holding back tears as I type this.  She was a wonderful woman!

Carla's Dad owned a service station in my neighborhood and her Mom was sometimes my substitute teacher.  Her sister Janie is a friend and classmate of my wife.  They were an outstanding family of outstanding people.  My condolences and prayers for her family and loved ones.

I just want the family to know that you Mom Carla was an amazing, sweet, loving person when we went to high school together in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Your family is in my prayers.
