Carr Marion Black

Visitation will be on Saturday, April 20 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Northminster Baptist Church, with funeral services to begin at 3:00 PM. Inurnment at Northminster Columbarium will immediately follow the service.

Mr. Black was born on December 24, 1942 to the late Vadie Albritton Black and Carr Black of Jackson. He graduated from Murrah High School in 1960, where he was an Eagle Scout and member of the varsity football team. He received a B.B.A. degree from the University of Mississippi in 1965, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Mr. Black also received a M.B.A. from Mississippi College.

Upon college graduation, he entered the Mississippi Army National Guard and graduated from Officer Training School, attaining the rank of Captain. Simultaneously, he began his business career with First National Bank of Jackson, now Trustmark National Bank.

Following employment in the trust department of First National Bank of Dallas, he returned to Jackson and was associated with local brokerage firms. He married the former Rebecca Lovelace of Batesville on March 16, 1974. He was a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), and concluded his career as a financial planner with Raymond James Financial Services. He served as a member of the board of directors and as president of the Financial Planning Association. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America with his sons in Troop 8 at First Baptist Church of Jackson, and was a member of the board of directors of the North Jackson YMCA. He was also a Paul Harris Fellow at the North Jackson Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Lovelace Black of Jackson; sons, Dr. David Albritton Black (Nan) of Jackson and Andrew Lovelace Black (Erin) of Arlington,VA; and daughter Sarah Spears Black, also of Arlington, VA. He also leaves a brother, Henry Black (Brenda) of Jackson, nephews Randy and Stan (Emily), and niece Megan.
