Chris was born on July 1, 1950, the second child of Tommy and Louise James of Canton. She was a 1968 graduate of Canton High School, and received her undergraduate degree from the Mississippi University for Women in Columbus. She spent most of her adult life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, meeting Frank Hawkins Jones whom she wed in 1978. Their son, David Franklin Jones, was born in 1980 in Gulfport.
Chris later received her Masters of Library Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and went on to spend her career at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Biloxi before retiring in 2006. She served as Chief of Library Service, Chief of Health Information Management, and finished her career as Assistant Director of the hospital system.
Chris was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Gulfport for over 30 years. She enjoyed outdoor activities, traveling, and most of all spending time with her family.
Survivors include: husband Frank Jones of Ridgeland, son David Jones (Harper) of Jackson, brothers Tom James (Alan) and Harry Lee James (Cynthia), both of Canton. Grandchildren include McCausland (Causey) Grace Jones and William Turner Jones of Jackson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
