
Doris Winborn Jobe, 101, retired state executive, died December 16, 2013 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Services will be Saturday, December 21st at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland, with visitation from 1:00pm-2:00pm and funeral to follow at 2:00pm. Burial will be in Mizpah Cemetery in Durant, Mississippi.
Mrs. Jobe was a native of Durant, and after high school, graduated from Sullins College in Bristol, Virginia. She was married to the late Wickham Moore Winborn, who died in 1975. They had one child, Dixie Lee.
Doris was the business manager of the Charity Hospital in Jackson until it closed when the University Hospital was opened in 1955. She was appointed to serve as the director of the Mississippi Hospital Reimbursement Commission, which served 13 state institutions. She was elected as president of the National Hospital Reimbursement Association and installed when Mississippi hosted the association in Biloxi in 1972. A longtime member of the Pilot Club of Jackson, she served in every office and was a former president.
Doris attended Ridgecrest Baptist church with her daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Joe Chapman.
In 1980 she was married to the late Dr. Euclid R. Jobe. Survivors include one daughter, Dixie Lee Chapman of Jackson; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren
