
She was born in Hattiesburg, MS on October 16, 1930, the daughter of Hiram and Helen Todd. She attended Davis Elementary, and graduated Hattiesburg High School in 1948. Dorothy attended MSCW but to the dismay of her parents, left college with only 3 semester hours needed to graduate to marry Lt. Ben Puckett and set off on an adventure with him that lasted a lifetime.
Dorothy was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Ben, her parents, and her sister Mary Todd Lane.
She is survived by her six children including daughters Carol Puckett Palmer (John) and Mary Helen DeFrance, sons Richard Puckett (Mary), Ben Puckett Jr. (Mary Lee), John Puckett (Susie), and Todd Puckett (Rivers).
Her 15 grandchildren are Hastings Puckett (Amanda), Rob Puckett (Katherine), Katie Puckett Ginn (Marcus), Susie Puckett Foral (Ray), Ben Puckett (Alicia), Mary Keith Rusbridge (Patrick), Martin DeFrance, Will Puckett (Anna), John Puckett Jr. (Abby), Christopher, Andrew, Rivers, Mary Hastings, Carolina and Todd Puckett Jr. Great grandchildren are Peyton and Parker Puckett, Allie and Blake Foral, Robert, Ross and Annie Puckett, Mary Cliburn and Katherine Anderson Ginn, Mary James and Benjamin Todd Puckett, and Anna Rusbridge.
She enjoyed her years at The Everyday Gourmet which she co-owned with her daughter Carol. But her greatest joy, sense of pride and most notable accomplishment was being a fun, creative, energetic, and wise mother to six children.
There will be a private family graveside service on Saturday, June 3.
