Dorothy Spencer

Visitation will be Saturday, November 23, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Mississippi, with funeral services to follow at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland.

Mrs. Spencer was born March 25, 1928, in Oxford, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff Hamm, Sr. and Opal Cole Hamm, her husband, Ernest O. Spencer, Jr. and her son, Alfred J. Spencer.

Mrs. Spencer is survived by her sons, Ernest O. Spencer, III and William R. Spencer, her brother, Jeff Hamm, Jr., her grandchildren, Karen Rivers Spencer, Lloyd Henson Hannon, Dorothy Spencer Collier and Cole Spencer and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dot Spencer was a graduate of Oxford High School, and the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. After graduating from college she worked at the University of Mississippi Law School. After marrying Ernest O. Spencer, Jr. in 1953 she was a homemaker in Jackson, where she was a member of First Christian Church and active in several civic organizations. She later became a long time employee of Carter Jewelers.
