Draper Francine Lowe Greenlee, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many went peacefully to be with her Lord on July 30, 2025, and joined her faithful husband of 58 years, Billy C. Greenlee. The second of two children, Francine was born on June 24, 1938, to Charles Guy Lowe, Sr. and Draper Melvin Lowe in Jackson, Mississippi. She attended Jackson Public Schools, Mississippi State College for Women and Belhaven College where she was active in many campus organizations. Francine, alongside her Lowe and Melvin families, was active in Central Presbyterian Church.
Francine and Billy were married on June 29, 1957, and raised their two daughters Alice and Christi in Jackson, Mississippi. They were members of First Presbyterian Church where Francine taught Sunday School, was involved in The Women in the Church, the Flower Committee, and served as a longtime member of the choir. Her favorite commitment each year was the choir’s annual Christmas Program. Francine was an artist, author, seamstress, business owner, entrepreneur, travel agent, and petite model. She enjoyed traveling, entertaining and caregiving for her family and friends, yet her favorite role was wife and best friend to her husband. Francine and Billy were known as the couple always laughing and enjoying life together. They raised their daughters alongside their best friends’ families, and enjoyed vacationing at Pickwick Lake each year to water ski, swim at the waterfall, sing and laugh.
Francine was a part of a team of ladies who began The Jackson Christian Women’s Club in the early 1970’s and co-chaired The Billy Graham Crusade in 1975. She sold Leiter Designer Fabrics from her home, wrote The Interfacing Book for the Leiter’s company, designed, patented, and sold internationally the Soft Top Sewing Table through her company, Greenlee Custom Designs.
Francine and Billy moved to St. Catherine’s Village in 2012 where she was his caregiver until the end of his battle with cancer in 2015. She enjoyed her role as mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. In the final years of her life, when she struggled with her words, walking, and eventually needing assistance in everything, she never complained while demonstrating love, kindness, and respect. She lived what she believed, that God is faithful, God is good, and Jesus is Lord. Mrs. Greenlee was well loved in Campbell’s Cove and the family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care of her medical team, the caregivers who work daily on behalf of the elderly, and Gentiva Hospice.
Francine is preceded in death by her parents, Draper and Charles Guy Lowe, Sr., her brother Charles Guy Lowe, Jr., and her husband Billy C. Greenlee. She is survived by her daughters Alice Nicholas (Mark) and Christi Greenlee, grandchildren Taylor Nicholas (Katie) Reed Nicholas (Maris), Jamey Nicholas (Mary Hampton), Forest Anthony (Danielle), Mary Fran Mason (Tyler), great-grandchildren Knox, Price, Tait, Stella, Saylor, Sterling, Sayles, Ann Greenlee, Carter, and Margot Nicholas, as well as Ryan Anthony, Sheldon and Majure Mason.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside funeral service to be held at 9:00 am Monday, August 4, 2025, at Lakewood Memorial Park (6011 Clinton Blvd, Jackson, MS). Visitation will be held following the funeral service from 10:30-11:30 am at First Presbyterian Church of Jackson (1390 N. State St, Jackson, MS). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to First Presbyterian Church.
