Duane LaVonn Gosa, age 82, of Madison, MS, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 18, 2026. Born on November 29, 1943, in Aberdeen, MS, he was the beloved son of Trilby Nadeen and L.C. Gosa.
A proud graduate of Aberdeen High School’s Class of 1962, Duane excelled both on the basketball court and the football field. Later that same year, on August 26, he married the love of his life, Linda Jane Henson, at Southside Baptist Church in Aberdeen. Their marriage was a true partnership built on devotion, humor, and unwavering support — a bond that lasted 64 years.
Duane enjoyed a fulfilling 34‑year career with BellSouth, where he was known for his strong work ethic, steady leadership, and the same kindness and dependability he showed in every part of his life. His colleagues respected him deeply, and many friendships formed during those years remained important to him throughout his life.
Affectionately known as “Tiny” because of his 6’8” stature and gentle spirit, Duane was a man defined by kindness, humility, and a deep love for his family. He approached life with generosity and treated everyone he met with respect.
Duane is survived by his children, Michael (Cindy) Gosa, Tina (Patrick) Redfearn, and Kristie (Jonathan) Tabor; his grandchildren, Jordan (Shawn) Kridler, Sam (Amanda) Redfearn, Anna Katherine (Andrew) Wiley, Bailey Tabor, Walker Gosa, and Riley Tabor; and his great-grandson, Everett Tyler Redfearn. He is also survived by his brother, Bill (Kathy) Gosa, along with two nieces and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Linda, and his parents, Nadeen and L.C. Gosa.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Parkway Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland, MS. His nephew, Matthew Williams, will officiate. Pallbearers will include Michael Gosa, Patrick Redfearn, Jonathan Tabor, Sam Redfearn, Bailey Tabor, Walker Gosa, Shawn Kridler, and Andrew Wiley. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a graveside service to follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Duane will be remembered as a gentle giant whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and love. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched.
