Merle was born in Jackson, MS on January 27th, 1939, to the parents of Elzie and Effie Clark.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Bill Williams. She is survived by her son, Todd Williams (Amy); daughters, Donna Price (Steve) and Sheri Hutton (Randal). She was grandmother to 9 wonderful grandchildren: Carlee and Blayne Williams, Wes Price (Sara), Destin Price (fiancée Lorenzo Vazquez), Brandon Hutton (Caitlyn) and Justin Hutton. And one great grandchild, Collins Price. She also leaves behind her sister, Carolyn Allen; and two nieces and a nephew.
Merle graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Elementary Education. Furthering her education with a Masters and Specialists Degree. Merle retired from Jackson Public Schools after many years of teaching.
Merle loved her family and cherished every visit with her children and grandchildren. She loved watching them fish from her backyard. Christmas was her favorite holiday and loved getting the entire family together. She was very involved in her grandchildren’s hobbies and lives. She did not go many places without her best friend Helen Nicholson. They were two peas in a pod. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Madison. She loved watching the birds every morning from her chair overlooking the lake. She was a Master Gardner, Red Hat Society Member, Ladies of the Lake Club and volunteered many hours with the local Soil and Water Conservation.
A small graveside service will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park on Friday, December 18th at 2:00 p.m.
