Estelle Stevens Pittman died July 7, 2011 at the age of 92. She was born April 14, 1919 in Carroll County the youngest child of Herman and Myrtle Stevens. She died after a lengthy illness at St. Catherine’s Village where she had been a resident since 2002.
Estelle was married to the late W. Henry Pittman, Sr. on September 20th, 1936. They spent the first years of their marriage in Greenwood, MS before settling in Jackson in 1940, where Henry soon began his long career in the Insurance business at Reid-McGee and later founded Pittman Seay & Turner Insurance Agency. Estelle and Henry were early members of Woodland Hills Baptist Church where she attended “Mrs . Spell’s Sunday School Class” for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Forrest, Liddell, and Milton Stevens; her granddaughter, Paige Bruce and her loving husband of 64 years, Henry. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Bruce (Don) of Madison; her son, William Henry Pittman, Jr. of Mobile, AL; her son, John R. Pittman (Gail) of Ridgeland; grandchildren; Todd Bruce (Julia), Jeffrey Bruce, Sonny Pittman (Patti), Natalie Dillon (Eric), and eight great-grandchildren all of Madison.
Estelle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family always came first in her life. The family wishes to thank all her caregivers at St. Catherine’s for their kind , devoted attention during her tenure there and especially her last days.
Services will be held Saturday, July 9 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday and preceding the service on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
