Frances was born in Rosa, LA. She was the daughter of the late Leonard Rachal of Natchitoches, LA and the late Theresa Antie Mitcham of Clinton, MS.
After graduating college from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA she worked as a teacher for a short time and then for a local bank for a few years prior to meeting her future husband of 47 years, the late Cecil Harold Snodgrass, who was serving in the United States Air Force at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, LA at the time.
After moving from Louisiana to Tennessee and finally Mississippi, Frances served as a branch bank officer for Peoples Bank (now Regions Bank) while raising three sons. During the early 1980s she attended and graduated from the MS Banking School for professionals at the University of Mississippi. Upon retiring from her banking career she went back to work a few years later for Graduate Supply House in Jackson, MS as an inside sales support clerk where she retired in 2003.
Frances loved her family. After raising three boys, she was thrilled to be the grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters.
She was a voracious book reader (especially Pat Conroy novels) and enjoyed traveling throughout her early childhood. She was particularly fond of the many trips to the beach in Destin, FL over many years especially when her granddaughters were small.
She is survived by her sons, Scott May (wife Leah) of Dallas, TX, David Snodgrass (wife Leslie) of Canton, MS, Paul Snodgrass (wife Kathryn) of Smiths Station, AL, and her two granddaughters Kirsten Snodgrass of Corpus Christi, TX and Kaylee Snodgrass of Atlanta, GA.
The family extends its most sincere gratitude to the staff at The Blake Flowood and to the staff of VitalCaring Group for the wonderful care and compassion they both provided to Frances.
A private memorial service for Frances will be held where she will be interred with her late husband at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Newton, MS.
