Born on December 7, 1960, in Jackson, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Howard R. Holaday Sr. and Dorothy Smith Holaday. Ginger spent her early years in Atlanta, Georgia; Acton, Massachusetts; and Raleigh, North Carolina.
She graduated from Ravenscroft School in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia. She then attended Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi to obtain educator certification which led to her lifetime career.
Ginger devoted her life to education, serving as a kindergarten teacher for 26 years. She taught at Madison Station Elementary School in Madison, Mississippi, where she was deeply appreciated by her students, colleagues, and the many families whose children she taught over the years. In a post Madison Station Elementary wrote, “Our world became a little smaller today. Ginger Holaday taught in the very same classroom for over two decades. She worried about your children and she prayed for them too. She trained up four of the five MSE principals and many team teachers. She wasn’t just a Madison Station teacher, she was family, our family. We named the most precious hall in our school Holaday Hall in her honor. Ms. Holaday loved Madison Station Elementary School, and she loved you.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard R. Holaday Sr. and Dorothy Smith Holaday. She is survived by her brother, Howard R. Holaday Jr. and many beloved cousins and their families.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 3:30 p.m., at Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
