

Hershel G. Turner, 88, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 21st from 5:00p.m. until 7:00p.m.at Wright and Ferguson, Highland Colony Parkway. A funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m, Friday at the same location with visitation starting at 10:00, followed by burial at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Hershel was born Mar. 13, 1926 to Merrell and Annie Turner in Harperville, MS. After graduating from Harperville High School, he received his Associate's Degree from East Central Junior College and then attended USM. Hershel joined the Army and served for 2 years during WWII and then the Airforce for 4 years during the Korean War.
In 1954, he began working for AT&T, where he met the love of his life, Jean Moulder. They were married September 17, 1955. In 1988, Hershel retired from AT&T after 35 years as a supervisor. He and Jean were married 59 years before his passing. The Turners lived in Benton, Mississippi and attended Benton Baptist Church and more recently Parkway Baptist Church in Clinton. He loved growing his roses, watching Ole Miss play football and playing golf. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and was loved by his family.
Hershel is survived by wife, Jean M. Turner; sons, Ken (Becky) Turner of Clinton, MS, and Keith (Carol) Turner of Clinton, MS; daughter, Kimberly (Kevin) Ennis of Collinsville, MS; grandchildren, Shane (Brooke) Janos of Clinton, MS, Megan (Chris) Robbins of Starkville, MS, and Turner Ennis of Starkville, MS; great-grandchildren Tyler, Austin, and Chloe Grace Janos of Clinton, MS; and many nieces and nephews.
