
Lived in Jackson all his life, he was a WWII Air Force veteran and graduate of Ole Miss Law School where he was a member of SAE. He practiced law briefly before moving into commercial real estate, which he did for 60 years. He served as a Ruling Elder at First Presbyterian Church for over 28 years and was an active evangelist, boldly sharing his faith with many. He served on several mission boards and often visited missionaries in the field. He was always physically active and enjoyed skin diving, water skiing, and tennis, but his passion was snow skiing. The mountains were his favorite place and he skied up until the last few years of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his two younger brothers, Vim and John; his first wife, June Eckert Howie; and his infant daughter, Mary Rebecca Howie.
He is survived by his loving wife Diana Gomez Howie of nearly 38 years, his six grown children, Lee, Jr. & Connie Howie, Beverly & Mahmoud Galal, Sherri Howie, David & Carrie Howie, Sarah & Freddy Torres, and Joy & Chris Hodges, and his ten grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Monday, November 16, from 4:00 until 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 17, at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church.
