

She is preceded in death by her husband, Philip J. Watkins. They had two children together, Gayle Devirian of Palos Verdes, California and Ginger Watkins of Madison, Mississippi. She has four grandchildren, Emily Brown, Heather Slay, Tom Blue and Wes Slay II and nine great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Greenwood Le Flore Hospital Nursing School in 1940. She and her husband owned and operated the 7-1 Minute Market and the Watkins Colonial Motel in Greenville, Mississippi. She was an active member of the Church of Christ. She as an extra in several movies filmed locally. She also enjoyed traveling. She was an avid race walker and was an International Champion in the 75-79 age competition, breaking two U.S.A. records in the process. Her generousity, love and commitment will be deeply missed by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday from the Ridgeland Chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home. Visitation will be between the hours of 5 and 7 PM Friday and after 1:00 PM Saturday. Interment will follow the service in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorials to Sunnybrook Children's Home in Ridgeland. Mississippi.
