

Brother was born on June 5, 1930 in Madison, MS where he was a lifetime resident and at the time of his death was the longest living male member of Madison United Methodist Church. Brother
graduated from Madison Ridgeland High School in 1948 and Mississippi State University in 1952 where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. After a tour of duty in the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant, he returned to Madison and enjoyed a long and successful career in business, politics, real estate, and agriculture. His legacy will be remembered by all who had the fortunate opportunity to interact with him. Brother is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janie Cross Harris; daughter, Janie Harris Fletcher (Curtis), granddaughter, Emma Elisabeth Fletcher, and brother Samuel B Harris (Dale). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joellen Harris; parents, Julius Stokes Harris and Mary Ellen Nicholson Harris, and sister, Marian Quinn.
There will be a private family graveside service and celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Smith-Harris Scholarship established in 1978 at Madison-Ridgeland Academy, 7601 Old Canton Road, Madison, MS 39110 in memory of Perriann Smith and Joellen Harris, members of the class of 1980.
