Jay Herrington Rives of Madison, Mississippi passed away on December 13, 2025 at the age of 66. He was born on August 11, 1959 in Blytheville, Arkansas. He grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. He graduated from Jackson Preparatory School. He then received his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College. He also got his Master of Divinity from Christian Life School of Theology. He worked as a real estate appraiser in the Jackson surrounding area.
He enjoyed serving as a lay minister at The Orchard Retirement Home as well as the Chateau Retirement Home in Ridgeland. He also enjoyed music, photography, painting, and pottery.
He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Blake Rives and his parents, Ralph Edward and Nancy Dell Herrington Rives. He is survived by his wife Sandie Wilbanks Rives, son Justin Michael Rives (Cristie), grandsons Jason Cade Rives and Jordan Blake Rives, as well as his brother Ralph Edward Rives, Jr. (Leann), and sister Sandra Rives Monohan (Jamie).
The family would like to thank Saint Dominic’s Hospital and Pleasant Hills Nursing Home for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days. They would also like to thank everyone who prayed and offered support for Jay and the family during this time.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life service at Parkway Memorial Funeral Home on December 18th, 2025. A visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 PM and the funeral will be at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you consider a donation in Jay’s name to Canton Christian Center.
