Joe attended Forest Hill School in Jackson and spent much of his life serving his community. He was the longtime owner and operator of Joe’s Place in Jackson, where he built lasting friendships and earned the respect of many. Joe proudly served as a veteran of the Mississippi Army National Guard and was a Master Mason of Forest Hill Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Madison Broadaway and Evie Austin Broadaway; his wife, Laura Demars Broadaway; his sister, Geraldine Broadaway Weeks; his brother, Sam Jessie Broadaway; and his grandson, Ryan Patrick Munoz of Raleigh.
Joe is survived by his brother, Charlie Mac Broadaway (Carol) of Southlake, Texas; his sons, David Edward Broadaway (Cynthia) and Keith Wood Broadaway (Sherri) of Brandon, Mississippi; his daughters, Lisa Broadaway Clarke of Brandon and Jill Maxwell of Ridgeland; his grandchildren, Austin Edward Broadaway (Nicole) of Mendenhall, Kristi Klein, Rachel Whitehead (Jimmy) of Ridgeland, and William Joseph Brantley of Richland; and his great-grandchildren, Alex Brantley, Carson McCord, Hadley Broadaway, Avery Munoz, Carter Broadaway, Liam Munoz, Elianna Broadaway, Tre Whitehead, Emma Whitehead, Jordan Whitehead, Anna Whitehead, Stella Klein, Edward Klein, and Coleman Klein. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Texas and Florida.
Pallbearers will be Austin Broadaway, Rachel Whitehead, Tre Whitehead, Patrick Stephens, Ken Harvey, and Joe Hargon. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Whitehead, Jordan Whitehead, and Billy Williamson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Mississippi.
Joe will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his service to his country, and the many lives he touched throughout his years.
A visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home, located at 1161 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland, MS 39157, on December 26, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 1:00 pm.
