

She was born at home in the Mississippi Delta in O’Reilly on January 13, 1936. She was a graduate of Cleveland High School, Sophie Newcomb at Tulane University in New Orleans, and the Rhode Island School of Design. She taught at All Saints in Vicksburg and at Delta State University in Cleveland and other colleges. Her career at Millsaps College in the Art Department began in 1969 and she retired in 1999. Some of her many landscape paintings are archived in the Mississippi Museum of Art. She had many shows throughout the Southeast over a period of years and she was the author of A Study of Art Taught in the General Education of the Junior Colleges in Mississippi 1965-1966.
She is survived by her brother, the Right Reverend Dr. William W. Millsaps and his wife, Martha, of Monteagle, Tennessee, two nephews, William Webster Millsaps of Boca Raton, Florida and James Jackson Millsaps of Big Pine Key, Florida, and a niece, Mary Millsaps Anderson of Savannah, Georgia. She is survived by nine great nephews and nieces.
The Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 9 at Galloway United Methodist Church, where she was a member. The Visitation begins at 1 p.m. and the Service will begin at 2 p.m. The graveside service will be on Tuesday, May 10 at the Cleveland, Mississippi Cemetery at 1 p.m. and will be followed by a luncheon at The Warehouse Restaurant to which all are invited.
In lieu of flowers any memorial gifts to be sent may be made to Galloway United Methodist Church, or Christ Church Monteagle, Tennessee, or the Salvation Army or Millsaps College.
