Lynn was born on July 3, 1962, in Cleveland, Mississippi, to George and Peggy Beach and was raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi. She graduated from Lee Academy in 1980 and later attended Mississippi University for Women and Delta State University. On May 14, 1983, Lynn married the love of her life, Walter Gilmer. In 1984 they moved to Clinton, MS, and later relocated to Madison, in 1994 where Lynn spent the remainder of her life as a devoted homemaker to her husband and their two children.
Lynn is survived by her husband Walter Gilmer; two children JoBeth Lee (Tyler) and Joshua Gilmer (Amanda); six grandchildren: Walker, Shep, and Evie Lee and John, Everett, and James Gilmer; her mother Peggy and father George Beach; her sister Donna Hurdle (Landy); and numerous family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Lynn had a remarkable ability to approach life with the wide-eyed wonder of a child. No matter her age, she saw the world with fresh eyes, finding beauty in everyday moments. Whether encountering a new place, a new idea, or a new person, Lynn embraced each with infectious curiosity and an open heart. Her enthusiasm reminded everyone around her to pause and appreciate life’s simple wonders.
Lynn was a deeply talented and humble woman whose creative spirit touched the lives of everyone around her. Though she would never have considered herself the gifted artist that her family, friends, and community admired her to be, those who knew her saw her brilliance in every medium she touched. A gifted home chef, seamstress, ceramist, painter, and decorator, Lynn's art was her life; though she always found her greatest inspiration in creating for others. Her home was a living gallery with personal pieces that she often deemed not good enough for a gift. Yet, to those who received them, they were treasures. Lynn’s work radiated love and thoughtfulness, a testament to the quiet generosity that defined her.
Lynn was a steadfast warrior whose life was marked by courage, kindness, and unshakable faith. Despite enduring the daily challenges of lupus, she never allowed her illness to define her or limit the joy and love she shared with others. Known for her contagious warmth and selflessness, Lynn had the rare ability to brighten any room she entered. Through years spent in the care of nurses and physicians, she formed lasting friendships, always giving more than she received and leaving a lasting impression on every heart she touched. Even in the face of illness, she remained devoted to her roles as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, friend, and faithful servant of the Lord.
In her final act of generosity, Lynn donated an organ, extending the gift of life to another family.
Her legacy of strength, grace, creativity, and boundless love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also praises her: ‘Many women have done noble deeds, but you surpass them all!’ Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord will be praised. Give her the reward of her labor, and let her works praise her at the city gates.” Proverbs: 28-31
