Margaret Powell Smith, 93, of Ridgeland died Thursday, December 10, 2020. A graveside funeral service will be held at Parkway Memorial Cemetery on Highland Colony Parkway in Ridgeland on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
Margaret was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H Powell of the Tinsley Community in Yazoo County. Margaret attended Clarks Business School, where she met and later married William G (“Buck”) Smith. Memphis was to be their home for 23 years, where they were blessed with the birth of 2 daughters, Carolyn and Elizabeth. Margaret and Buck became members of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church and Ben Fatheree’s Class in 1980 when Mr. Smith became postmaster of Jackson. Although in recent years, she was no longer able to attend, she was a long-time member of Galloway.
Survivors include daughter, Elizabeth Kendrick (George) of Brandon; grandchildren, Ryan Kendrick (Amber), Megan Darby (Chad), Amy Campbell Bingley (Jamie), and Melissa Campbell Volker (Will); great grandchildren, Kathryn and Lauren Bingley and Dash Darby; and still considered family members Patrick and Kathy Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 400 Grants Ferry Road, Brandon Mississippi 39047.
