

Martha Annelle Slaughter, 98, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2021 in her home at Beau Ridge Independent Living in Ridgeland, MS. Martha was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Jackson.
She was born June 16, 1922 to John Kamper and Mattie B (Stinson) Slaughter in Copiah County. She was a graduate of Hazlehurst High School and joined the US Navy WAVES during World War II. After returning home she built her career working for the US Dept of Justice in the Attorney General’s office in Jackson. She loved to travel and was a voracious reader. She dressed impeccably her entire life with a beautiful sense of style in eve-rything she wore. She had a wonderful sense of humor and grace about her and was loved dearly by so many. She was a daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Edwin Kamper (Buddy) Slaughter and sister in law, Eva Nelle (Goodrum) Slaughter. She is survived by her niece, Mollie Slaughter Harrell (Rob) , her grand nephew, Edwin Charles (Winn) Harrell and her grand niece, Avery Catherine Harrell. She is also survived by dear friends Stephanie Davidson and Jackie Young. Services will be Friday, February 5th at 11:00 AM, Parkway Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Burial will be later in the day at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian.
