

Mary Alice Moss Clark, age 85 of Jackson, passed away on April 13, 2014. She was born Nov. 11, 1928 in Raleigh, MS to the late Joseph Hushel and Clara Mayo Moss, and sister to the late Hushel Lamar Moss.
She graduated from Millsaps College in 1951. A life-long educator, Mary Alice taught hundreds of kindergarten children during a 21-year career at First Presbyterian Day School, Jackson, and earlier at Jackson Academy, as well as in Hattiesburg and Atlanta, GA. The classroom was her mission field; her passions were teaching children to read, to show kindness and to introduce them to Jesus.
She considered her life full with the beauty of family, friends and her church. She was a vibrant member of Christ United Methodist Church and served as lay director of the prayer ministry for many years. She was involved in the Talisman Women’s Club and numerous church and community Bible studies throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Watts Clark, and her children Jim (Celia) Clark of Ridgway, CO; Joe Clark of Hendersonville, NC; Angela (John) Thompson of Brentwood, TN and Emily (Roy) Butts of Madison; grandchildren Clark and Camille Thompson and Anna Jordan, Hayden and Mary Claire Butts, and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved her family deeply and will be remembered for her warm hospitality and devotion and faithfulness to the Lord.
Visitation will be Thurs., Apr. 17, from 4-7 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church fellowship hall and again on Fri., Apr. 18 from 9:30-10:45 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary. Interment at Pelahatchie Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, First Pres. Day School or Hospice Ministries, Inc.
