After graduation from Brookhaven High School in 1951 she began working at Arthur Murray Dance Studio in downtown Jackson where she met her husband Bill. They were married in October of 1955 and remained so until his death in February of 2009.
Mary was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. She was a Realtor/Broker and an active member of the Jackson Council of Garden Clubs. She was co-chair for the first Home and Garden Show in Jackson. While reading was her first passion, she also loved decorating, growing flowers and making arrangements and music of any kind.
Her survivors include her children, Cynthia Rhaly (DeWitt), SSG Michael W. Smith (Betsy) and Janet S. Brown (John), her sister Evelyn Solomon, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Parkway Funeral Home on Thursday January 21st, 2016 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 with graveside services to follow.
