
Mary Margaret Stewart Yeager of Jackson MS went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 28, 2013 surrounded by loving family. Visitation will be Thursday May 30 from 1:00-3:00 at Christ United Methodist Church with funeral services following at 3:00.
She was born in Houlka, MS on April 7, 1937 to William Clyde and Sybil Nanney Stewart. Beloved sister of Nanette Rowan (Thomas), Ladye Clyde King, and William Clyde Stewart Jr (Karen).
She graduated from the University of Mississippi with a BA in Commerce. She was Mortar Board, Epsilon Sigma Epsilon, Omicron Delta Kappa, and a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was also a cheerleader, homecoming queen, campus favorite, and beauty.
She moved to Jackson and worked as a secretary at UMC, married and had 3 children, Lee Ann Kantor (Kevin), William Stewart McKell (Linda), and Mary Kathryn McKell. She was an incredibly beautiful, generous, and selfless mother. She also enjoyed piano, golf, and bridge. She served as president of Meh Lady, the Jackson Lady's Golf Association, and Co-president of the 21 Club at the Country Club of Jackson. She met and married her loving husband of twenty years, Colonel William Morris Yeager and was blessed to be welcomed to his family. They were members of Christ United Methodist Church and the New Yorkers Sunday School Class. They enjoyed playing golf together and traveling and quiet time on their deck. She was most proud of her grandsons Luke and Kyle Kantor of Jackson. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with them or attend a program or event.
Mary Margaret was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived immediately by her siblings; Nanette Rowan (Thomas), Ladye Clyde King, and William Clyde Stewart Jr (Karen). her children; Lee Ann Kantor (Kevin), William Stewart McKell (Linda), and Mary Kathryn McKell; her other grandchildren Chris Hill (Ellen), Anna Wozniak (Anthony), great grandchildren Lydia and Landon Hill, as well as many special nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by daughters Sue Allen Tate (Granville), Amy Smith (Roy), grandchildren Bo Tate, Allen Tate, Laura Elizabeth Tate, Will Smith (Laura), Matt Smith, and Lindsey Wiseman (Parker) and great grandchild Amelia Wiseman.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Yeager would like donations sent to Christ United Methodist Church at 6000 Old Canton Road in Jackson, MS 39211.
