

Maxine Orr Williams, age 89, died peacefully on May 27th, 2017 at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, Mississippi. Maxine was born June 6th, 1927 in Oak Grove, LA. Her parents Tully and Emma Orr had five children. Maxine had two brothers and two sisters. She spent her adolescent life in Oak Grove, LA. In 1946, at the age of 19, she married James A Williams on April 20th, in Lake Providence, LA.
Maxine and James moved to Jackson, MS where they began new careers and started a family. Maxine and James raised their three children, Brenda, Linda and Mike. Maxine’s first career in Jackson was with Southern Farm Insurance Company, she then worked for R.W Neft Architect and in her final working years she retired from Lee Watkins Engineering Company, Maxine was the executive secretary of the firm.
Maxine was a hard working loving lady, she balanced her business career and raising her three children like no other.
Maxine is survived by her brothers, Glenn, and Gerry Orr, her sisters Debbie Orr Dake, Cletha Orr Berry and her three children James Williams, Linda Garlepeid, Brenda Conerly, her five grandchildren, Melisa Bria, Amy Bearden, Leah Crowe, Amanda Lockey, Cameron Williams and twelve great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
A private funeral service for the family will be held Wednesday, May 31st at 11am at Parkway Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can me made in memory of Maxine Williams to the Amanda W. Lockey Foundation, PO BOX 180789 Richland, MS 39218.
