

Patrick Walton Vaughan, age 44, died February 8, 2013 after a long illness. Born June 27, 1968 in San Antonio, Texas at Wilford Hall U.S. Air Force Hospital, Patrick graduated from St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, attended Loyola University in New Orleans, and graduated from Ole Miss in 1992. He was a member of the Delta Psi fraternity. He worked for many years at WAPT in Jackson in its news division.
Patrick was a devoted son, beloved brother and loyal friend. He was a gentle soul, who knew that to have a friend one had to be one. Those who knew Patrick were touched by his kindness. Patrick loved Ole Miss football, Premier League soccer, and heavy metal music. He played collegiate club soccer at Loyola and at Ole Miss and had a black belt in Tae Kwan Do. In his declining health, he brought strength and comfort to all who had the privilege to know, love and care for him.
Patrick is survived by his mother, Jean Smith Vaughan and father, William Hutcherson Vaughan, M.D., and his beloved brother, William Ashley Vaughan, Ph.D, his grandfather, Jerome Smith and his grandfather’s wife, Pamela, and by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William Hutcherson Vaughan, Sr., and Katherine Louise Walton Vaughan and his maternal grandmother Willa Jean Rutledge Smith, all of Jackson, Mississippi.
Funeral services will be handled by Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland, Mississippi. Visitation will be Sunday, February 10 at 4-5 pm at Wright and Ferguson on Highland Colony Parkway, and Monday, February 11:30 am until 1:00 pm at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Jackson. Committal at Parkway Memorial Cemetery will follow the funeral service at 1:00 pm, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.
Memorials for Patrick may be made to Stewpot or to St. Andrew’s Episcopal School.
