Phillip Douglas Morgan, 51, unexpectedly passed away on August 1, 2025 at his home in Flora, MS. He was with his much adored wife of 29 years, Christy. Nothing gave him more joy than spending time with her and their two beautiful daughters, Victoria Brooke and Charlotte Catherine.
A Mount Olive native, Phillip was born January 10, 1974, and enjoyed growing up in rural Mississippi with his family and countless best friends. He was a graduate of Simpson County Academy and The University of Southern Mississippi, with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting. As a CPA, he enjoyed a 10 year career as a public accountant before being hired by a long-time client, Southern Ag Credit, as its Chief Financial and Operating Officer. Ultimately becoming the CEO in 2020, Phillip was honored to lead his organization, which he considered his extended family.
Phillip had numerous friends whom he made from all walks of life and truly never met a stranger. He spent his most enjoyable memories with Christy and the girls at their hunting camp, Mims Mitchell, always surrounded by friends and his beloved family. Traveling to watch one of the girls in a horse show or cheer competition and vacationing with his extended family were among his favorite activities. He relished time spent with his horses as well as fostering rescue horses with the MS Horse Rescue. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Flora and supported causes including Dixie National Rodeo, Ducks Unlimited, Heart of the Horse and countless others.
In addition to his wife and daughters, Phillip is survived by his parents, Rickie and Richard Johnson of Mount Olive, MS, and Earl Morgan of Vero Beach, FL, his sisters Laurie Ellingsworth (Chuck) of Memphis and Mary Catherine Moore (Zack) of Memphis, nephews Chase Ellingsworth and Zachary Moore, and nieces Mallory and Mary Anne Ellingsworth and Alice Moore, and countless beloved extended family.
Visitation for Phillip Morgan will be held Monday, August 4, from 4-7pm at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, MS 39157. Private family graveside services will be held at D’Lo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Phillip’s name to either Mississippi Horse Rescue (www.mississippihorses.org) or First Baptist Flora Building Fund (https://secure.myvanco.com/YPSH/campaign/C-Z6KN).
