

Robert Conner McAllister passed away Tuesday, April 5th, 2016, at his home in Jackson, Mississippi. He was born December 18, 1946, to Russell S. McAllister and Genell Conner McAllister and was a lifelong resident of Jackson. He attended Murrah High School and graduated from Mississippi State University where he was a member of the SAE Fraternity. He continued his education and received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1972. After graduation he practiced law in Jackson until his retirement. While a practicing attorney, he was a member of the Capital Area Bar Association, the Mississippi Bar Association and the Mississippi Trial Lawyers Association now known as the Mississippi Association for Justice.
Conner was an avid sportsman and conservationist, was active in numerous conservation programs and a 25 year sponsor of Ducks Unlimited. He was also noted for his insatiable love of reading and maintained an outstanding library in his home as well as an extensive carved decoy collection. Conner had a true love of Native American culture and acquired many treasured artifacts depicting American Indian life. He had a special love for all animals and supported several animal shelters.
Conner is survived by his brothers, Rusty McAllister of Jackson, Mississippi, and John McAllister and his wife, Amy, of Opelika, Alabama; his nephews, Russ McAllister and Dave McAllister of Jackson, Mississippi, and Sam McAllister of Birmingham, Alabama, two great nieces, a great nephew, and his close friend and confidante, Shellee Gowan. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by Carolyn Flagg Temple; his parents, Russell S. McAllister and Genell Conner McAllister, a nephew, Wynn McAllister, and close personal friend, Samuel H. Wilkins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10th, 2016, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home, 1161 Highland Colony Parkway, Ridgeland, Mississippi. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 11th, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 1390 North State Street, Jackson, Mississippi.
