

Robert never met a stranger. He loved his family and took great pleasure in his wife, children and grandchildren. He was passionate about his faith and enjoyed serving his church and others, whether in leadership roles or being the hands and feet of Christ doing odd jobs and mission work.
He was born January 30, 1935 in Princeton, Indiana. He was the son of Denton and Laura Belle Young. As a child he lived in Illinois, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Alabama before he and his parents moved to Jackson in the mid 1940’s. He graduated from Central High School in 1953 and Mississippi State College in 1957. He served in the United States Army from 1958-63. He began his sales career with Dumas Milner Corporation and later retired from American Cyanamid Company as the Southeast U.S. District Sales Manager.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Trey Young. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary; daughter Renee Fleming and husband, Eric, of Chelsea, AL; son Robert Jr. (Rob) and wife, Ginny, and their daughters Lauren and Rebecca, of Madison, MS; and son David (Randy) and wife, Melody, and their sons Denton, David and Daniel, of Madison, MS.
Visitation will be April 12, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on Highland Colony Parkway and also for one hour prior to the Celebration of Life. The Celebration of Life will be held at Saint Matthew’s United Methodist Church in Madison on April 13 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorials be made to Saint Matthew’s UMC Youth Ministries Fund, Saint Matthew’s UMC, 7427 Old Canton Rd., Madison, MS 39110.
