Rosaline Pace Walker was taken to be with the Lord on August 15, 2022, in Brundidge, Alabama. Rosaline was born to John Oliver Pace and Maggie White Lyle Pace on January 25, 1931, in Sebastopol, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Norman Grady Walker Jr; sister Ouda Shellyn Gresham, her husband W. J. Jr.; her brother Oliver Lauren Pace and her sister John Ann Miller, husband Don; and daughter-in-law Susan Daniel Walker. Survivors include her children: Norman Grady Walker III, Stephen Leslie Walker and wife LuAnn, Rosaline Elise Gavin and husband Charlie, and David Alan Walker Sr and wife Bonnie; DeAnn Pace wife of Oliver Lauren and her brother George Lyle Pace and his wife Kathryn; nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.
She was of a generation where many were born at home as was, she. It was her wish to die at home and God granted her that gift. Rosaline was always gracious and courteous, happy but not in a frivolous manner and always conscious of the many blessings granted her. She displayed the grit, determination, and strength of character demonstrated by most Southerners of her generation raised in good Christian homes.
During Rosaline’s and Norman’s first 34 years of marriage, they moved 17 times. She bore and raised 4 children in a Godly Christian home. She taught them manners, respect for themselves and respect for others. They learned from her the difference between right and wrong, to treat others as you would like others to treat you and that a little elbow grease would go a long way! She was sometimes overshadowed by her husband but never underestimated and always appreciated.
Lena, Mississippi was always her home no matter where she roamed. She wasn’t born there, and she didn’t die there. She was frequently away from Lena, but Lena was always in her heart. Lena will be her last resting place this side of heaven alongside her husband.
Memorial Service for Rosaline will be a graveside service on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Lena Cemetery, 1086 Grand Avenue, Lena, Mississippi 39094. The service will be conducted by the Reverend Shellyn Gresham Poole. A reception for family and friends will be held following the service at the Lena Baptist Church, 2 Sunnyside Drive, Lena MS.
