Ruby Rae Conlee Johnson, 94, went to her eternal home May 2, 2017. She was born September 10, 1922, to John and Mignon Conlee. Visitation will be held at 9:30 and a memorial service will be conducted by Elder David Pyles at 10:30 Saturday, May 6, at Grace Primitive Baptist Church in Pearl, MS. Pall bearers will be Tyler Whyte, Stevan Whyte, Benton Ingram, Carlton Ingram, Chris Lynn and Mark Lynn.
Ruby graduated from Raymond High School where she met her husband, R.B. Johnson, Jr. She was a faithful and devoted wife who worked with her husband as owner and operator of Capitol Tobacco and Specialty in Jackson, MS.
Her love for God was evident as she ardently served beside R.B. as a founding member of Jackson Primitive Baptist Church, which later changed to Grace Primitive Baptist Church. Her love for people could be seen in the way she helped others in any way possible, directed weddings and opened her home to everyone in her church. She was admired for her godly wisdom and generous spirit.
Ruby was very fond of cooking and enjoyed entertaining friends, family, neighbors and church members in her home. She was always arranging flowers and loved being part of various garden clubs. One of her favorite pastimes was reading and spending time with her book clubs. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and actively involved in Rebounders Club.
She is preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, and sisters, Mimi and Elizabeth. She is survived by daughter, Betty Lynn (Dan); grandchildren, Mackey Whyte (Lorrie), Robby Whyte (Jackie), Danny Lynn (Gail), Beth Craighead, John Lynn (Scarlett), Ricky Lynn; 13 great grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Ruby’s youthful spirit and infectious smile will be greatly missed but we rejoice knowing she is with her greatest love, Jesus Christ, and suffering no more. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Primitive Baptist Church, 349 Crosspark Drive, Pearl, MS 39208
