Sarah was born in Crystal Springs, MS, on January 16, 1929. At age two, her family moved to Jackson, MS, where her father worked for the U.S. Postal Service. Sarah was a treasured only child, and she always laughed and said that everything that Shirley Temple had, she had it, too. From an early age, Sarah loved animals and shared her life with many four-footed companions. Following graduation from Central High School, Sarah attended a secretarial college and embarked on a career at South Central Bell, where she worked until her marriage. On September 2, 1950, Sarah married Ronald Victor Foley; they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in 2017 shortly before Ronald’s death. Sarah was a devoted mother to her three sons, encouraging them in their academic and professional pursuits throughout their lives. Furthermore, Sarah proved to be a loving and involved grandmother to the smartest and most beautiful and handsome grandchildren in the world.
