

Virginia Frances Rogers, 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 11, 2013, at Baptist Hospital, Jackson, MS, surrounded by family. There will be a visitation at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 from 11:00am to 12:00pm with a service following at 12:00pm. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park. She was a resident of The Home Place, Madison, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dr. Foy Rogers, in 1989. She was a native of Pontotoc County, MS, and attended Longview School. She attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary during the time Foy was in seminary there. She and Foy married in 1940 and she assisted and supported him in the Southern Baptist ministry in churches and with the Home Mission Board in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and other states. She was a genuine Christian lady and loved spending time with her church friends in support of mission activities to further the Word of Christ. When she met someone she wanted to know if you were a Christian because of her adamant belief and straightforwardness. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Jerrell (Brenda) Rogers and Randy (Debbie) Rogers. She is also survived by six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a long time member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff at Baptist Hospital and Hospice Ministries for their attentive and compassionate care for Frances in her last days. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 7469 Old Canton Road, Madison, MS 39110.
