Waudez was born in the Estes Mill Community of Leake County, Mississippi on July 17, 1925. The majority of her “career” life was spent being a homemaker and mother. After her youngest children reached school age, she entered the workforce to become the Housewares Department Manager of Howard Brothers Department Store in Jackson where she retired.
Above all else, Waudez loved Jesus, her family, and her neighbors. She had a giving spirit and loved to support and help others as much as possible. As a result of her strong Christian faith, many depended upon her strength and support during difficult times, especially her five children. She always saw the best in everyone and encouraged forgiveness and compassion.
Waudez was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Verbon Weldon Poole. They were both long time members of Broadmoor Baptist Church where they began attending when the church was originally founded in Jackson.
One of her favorite things was spending time on her front porch visiting with the neighbors in her cul-de-sac. She loved to watch the neighborhood children play while listening to the birds sing their songs.
She is survived by three sons Ron Poole (Sharron), Kevin Poole, and Kim Poole (Penney) all of Madison; and two daughters, Luanne (Lu) Poole of Madison and Jane Poole of Starkville; her grandchildren Candice Poole, Nicole Poole, Jace Poole, Logan Poole, Joah Poole; two great grandchildren Brady and Gavin; her sister Marie Smith; and many special nieces, nephews, and neighborhood friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity. Some of Waudez’s favorites were Wounded Veterans, St. Jude, and InTouch Ministries.
