He was born in Jackson, Mississippi on December 28, 1941. He grew up in Roanoke, Virginia but returned with the family to Jackson in 1958. He graduated from Murrah High School and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Millsaps College. After college, he served in the National Guard. William, known to the family as Lake then moved to Meridian where he learned the overhead garage door business.
Returning once again to Jackson he started and operated Addkison Overhead Door Co. until retiring in 2007.
Lake is survived by his sister, Carolyn Addkison Cook and her husband, Willis Harvey Cook of Carnesville, Georgia; two nephews, Stephen and David (Jennifer); two great-nieces and one great nephew.
