

Avie Jean White, 76, of 2055 Appalachian Drive, Martinsville, died Friday May 11, 2012 at the home of her daughter-in-law, Frances White. Avie was born on April 15, 1936 in Rockingham Co. to the late John Will Cannady and Mollie Bell Spencer. Avie was retired a nursing assistant and attended Fairview Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore White, Sr., five brothers, Ernest B. Cannady, Jessie L. Cannady, Richard W. Cannady, George N. Cannady, Henry L. Cannady, four sisters, Vera Watkins, Myrtle Cannady, Nell Brown and Hazel Allen.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda White Calkins of East Lyme, CT and Renae White Whitley of Roanoke, three sons, Junior White of Axton, James Artie White of Axton and Walter Kevin White of Clayton, NC, eight grandchildren, Conner White, Cameron White, Cami White, Eugene Calkins, Mary Helleen Calkins, Lesley Calkins, James Weatherman and Tina Weatherman and one great grandchild, Seamus Gunter.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the chapel of Community Funeral Service with Pastor Michael Dyer officiating, interment will be in Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends 6-8p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in the chapel of Community Funeral Services and other times at the home of daughter-in-law at 2055 Appalachian Drive, Martinsville.
