Joel Junior Hughes

Joel Junior Hughes, 68, of Ridgeway, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital of Roanoke. He was born in Henry County on July 29, 1945, to the late Joel Andrew Hughes and Lillie Lou Estelle Harbour Burkett of Axton. He was employed for more than thirty two years as an electrician and technical specialist for Wilson-Toller Plumbing, Heating and Air before his illness, and was a member of County Line Christian Church. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Hughes. In addition to his mother, Joel is survived by his wife of fifty years, Judy Fain Hughes of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law; Carol Letizia and husband Adam of Reedville and Lisa Ashby and husband, Randy of Martinsville, three brothers and sisters-in-law; Charles Hughes and wife Carolyn of Martinsville, Harvey Hughes and long time companion, Lynn Reeves of Collinsville and David Hughes of Martinsville, five grandchildren, Honey Simmons, Dustin Taylor, Elijah Ashby, Amanda Ashby and Morgan Letizia, two great-grandchildren, Parker and Brody Simmons and his faithful loyal beloved canine companion, Kodie.
