Ruby Moore Shelton

Ruby Moore Shelton, 91, of 901 Gates Street, Martinsville whom she shared a home with her daughter and son-in-law and a grandson went home to be with the Lord Saturday September 8, 2012 at the home. She was born in Rockingham County, NC on February 12, 1921 to the late Thomas Davis Moore and Ethel Ore Moore. Ruby was retired in 1974 after twenty two and a half years as a draw twist operator for DuPont due to congestive heart failure. Ruby attended several churches in the area such as Morgan Ford Christian, Whites Chapel Baptist both in Ridgeway and most recently become and member of Bethany Baptist Church in Brosville.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband who passed way in 1995 after fifty five years of marriage, Willie Vincent Shelton, one daughter, Ann Dowdy, three sisters, Louise Andrews, Catherine Frank and Virginia Marcum and seven deceased brothers, Thomas, Curtis, Charles, Forrest, Early, Junior and Johnny Moore.

Surviving are two daughters and son-in-law, T. J. Wright and husband Bobby of Martinsville and Debra Chism of Axton, three sisters, Christine Reeves of Axton, Margaret (Sissy) Dillon of Spencer and Hazel Mills of Axton and one brothers, George Moore of Fieldale, four grandchildren Tyler Wright, Tommy Spence and wife Tina, Tony Dowdy and Brandon Quesenbury, seven great grandchildren Lee Dowdy, Scarlet Dowdy, Haley, Aubrey and Shelly Spence, Macy and Megan Jenkins and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Friday, September 14, 2012 in the chapel of Community Funeral Services with Rev. Reggie Steel officiating, interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway. The family will receive friends from 6-8p.m. Thursday September 13, 2012 in the chapel of Community Funeral Service and other times at the home in Gates Street, Martinsville.
