Sara Pendleton Hicks

Sara Frances Pendleton Hicks, 84, of Price-Grange Road, Eden, NC, died Thursday March 14, 2013 at Morehead Nursing Center in Eden, NC. She was born in Eden, NC on March 5, 1929 to the late Ethan Green “E.G.” Pendleton and Iva Hailey Pendleton, Sara was retired after more than twenty one years as a Health and Life insurance agent and her last appointment was with Bankers Life and Casualty. Sara was a professional piano teacher and taught music for more than fifty five years. She was a faithful member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Eden, where she was the church organist for over sixty years. Sara attended Emanuel Bible College in Franklin Springs, GA.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. Hicks.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie Hale and husband David, Eden, NC, sons, Byron Pendleton Hicks and wife Donna of Ferrum, VA., Richard Stephen Hicks, Winston Salem, NC, two sisters, Mary Louise “Penny” Ramsey of Eden, NC, and Gloria P. Robertson of Stuart, VA. a special sister, Alberlene “Abbie” Thomas, six grandchildren, Chad Ethan Hale and wife Danielle, Christy Iva Brubaker and husband Lonnie, Megan Elizabeth Hicks, Mychaela Emily Hicks, Mary Beth Hale and Jonathan David Hale and wife, Ashley, three great grandchildren, Melissa Hale, Melanie Faith Brubaker and Holly Grace Brubaker, one great-great grandchild, Tristan, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Sunday, March 17, 2013 at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Moir St, Eden, NC, with Rev. Harold Cox, Rev. Jonathan D. Hale, Rev. Christy Iva Brubaker and R. Stephen Hicks, officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday March 18, 2013 in the Roselawn Memorial Park in Reidsville, NC. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, prior to the funeral and other times at the home of her daughter, Jeanie Hale 1725 Hwy 135, Eden, NC.
