Stella Elizabeth Dillon

Stella Elizabeth Dillon Prater, 67, of 1129 Phospho Springs, Drive, Ridgeway, died Saturday July 9, 2011 at her residence. She was born in Danville, on March 3, 1944 to the late Sam Henry Dillon and Thelma Mae Meadows Dillon. She was retired from private duty nursing and working as a CNA for the Beverly Health Care of Martinsville. She was of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Prater, Sr., three sisters, Claudia Clark, Dorothy Horne and Jolly Dillon, five brothers, Billy Dillon, Ervin Dillon, Paul Dillon, James Dillon and Raymond Dillon and one grandchild, Erica Beth Stegall.

Surviving are one daughter, Teresa P. Wyatt of Axton, four sons, Herman D. Prater, Jr. of Eden, NC, Ray S. Prater of Columba, SC., Kenneth L. Prater of Las Vegas NV., Barry W. Prater of Eden, NC, four brothers, Harold ‘Smoky” Dillon of Roanoke, Quinard Dillon of Bassett, Ernie “Gene” Dillon of Bassett and Marvin Dale Dillon of Axton, Seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in the chapel of Community Funeral Service of Ridgeway with Pastor Kenny Daniels officiating, interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday July 11, 2011 in the chapel of Community Funeral Service Chapel and other times at the home.
