Age 90, passed away at home in Riverside, CA from cancer on December 2, 2020. She was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and lived in Riverside, CA for 72 years, previously in Decatur, Alabama (4 yrs) and South Dakota (14 yrs, numerous towns). She worked for Pacific Telephone from 1946-1951 and Hunter Douglas from 1953-1955). She graduated from Riverside Poly High School in 1947. She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Women’s Bibly Study, Junior League, and Victoria Club. She was a volunteer of many organizations: Meals on Wheels, Auxiliary hospital staff, and PTAs.
Colleen is survived by her husband Douglas R. Burns; daughters Deborah Blalock of Birmingham, Alabama and Laura Goodrich of San Diego, CA; son Douglas W. Burns of Taipei, Taiwan; sister Ramona Vagge of Denver, Colorado; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Allan Olander and Violet Shufelt.
Burial will be on 12/18 at 10am at Olivewood Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church.
