We would first like to thank you all for joining us here today, both family and friends alike. Our mom, Concepcion Rodriguez, would be proud of the respect you’ve shown her and honored by your presence. Concepcion Rodriguez was born in Tijuana, Mexico on December 8, 1947, to Alfonso Toribio and Juanita Sanchez. Concepcion or as everyone who knew her “Connie” had five siblings: Kika, Gelo, Jose, Patty, Lupe and Zeke. In 1964, our mom met our dad, Antonio Rodriguez, and they were married in 1969. They had four children: Juan, Hilda, Monica and Rocio. Mom later became a foster parent and adopted our brother Jorge, and two sisters Karen and Berlin. Mom was also a proud mother-in-law to Debby and Gino, She cherished her grandchildren Stephanie, Issac, Jacob, Isabella, Gianni, Gisselle, and soon to be baby Rodriguez. We also can’t forget how her eyes would light up when she saw her great grand-daughter Khaliyah, who she loved with all her heart.
Mom’s spirit was truly one of a kind. She was very attentive and caring to those around her. In fact, we have memories of her pulling to the side of the road when she saw a stalled car and offer help. Our mom would often pick up strangers in need of a ride if they had a kind face. Further, she would go out of her way to check on friends who were lonely and visit them weekly to give them comfort. She valued her home and family, she enjoyed caring for her plants, and her skills in the kitchen will never be replaced. More importantly mom became a US Citizen a few years ago, which was a huge accomplishment for her.
Our mom was like no other. She gave us life, nurtured us, taught us, fought for us, but most importantly she loved us unconditionally. There are not enough words we can say to describe just how important our mom is to us, and what a powerful influence she will continue to be. We can only thank her for always believing in us, for all the support she gave us and for being such a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and sister. We will forever cherish and love her.
