Derrick,

I met you when I was a Sophomore in high school. You used to ask me for pointers at the gym all the time. I watched you grow from this twig into the hulk, man! We hung out almost every day when you lived next to Lazo. We kind of lost touch for a while after high school, but you messaged me out of the blue on Facebook,  in November of 2020. We video called each other a few times. Talked some smack back and forth about college football games. It was fun. I was happy to reconnect with my old friend.  Now, I’m sorry to have lost my old friend. You had a good heart. I miss you brother! 

With shock and great sadness to hear of the loss of your son. As , I lost my son in 2014. He was 30 years old, an around the same age as your son Derrick. The comfort in this time of loss. Yes, both of our sons were saved and had a relationship with Jesus Christ, so we know they are in heaven, rejoicing, and singing praise and worship to our Lord and Savior. No more pain and suffering. And one day we will meet them again. They are no longer with us on this earth, but we have memories to cherish until we meet again.     The wonderful memory I have of Derrick when I first met him working with Xtreme . we were working at a warehouse down in Ontario. Derrick would come in and relieve me to work the graveyard shift.. the first time I met him, I will never forget how highly he spoke of his father. I could tell how much he loved, and respected his father. Derrick had a Ford mustang and I had a Chevy Monte SS. Derrick and I would always go back-and-forth about who had more horsepower whose car was faster. he would always challenge me to a drag race. i’ll never forget the joyful banter we used to have back-and-forth about our cars. and by the way, I never did take him up on that drag race.😂 was always a little fearful I would lose. he was such a fine, strong, young man, and that reflects on his upbringing from his parents.       He will be truly missed, but never forgotten, and he will rise again when Jesus Christ returns.🙏🏻🙏🏻

Derrick. 

There just are not words to express the sadness and sympathy/empathy felt for you and your family  over the loss of your precious beloved Son, Derrick. 

He was so full of personality and I enjoyed conversing with him on several occasions. Having lost a son myself, I understand that missing portion of your heart that you now feel inside. I truly hope the precious memories you carry with you, along with the many prayers going up for you and your family, will help sustain you, even a bit, to get you through the next few weeks and months ahead. 

I shall continue to pray for you and your family, In hopes Our GOD will provide much needed comfort and support going forward.  Memories are priceless and knowing you were the most awesome Dad to your awesome Son will follow you all the days of your life, until you see this amazing Son, once again.

Even though Derrick is gone far too soon, I felt the exuberant amount of generosity and compassionate he held within him. It was always easy to identify Derrick as real man with his gruff exterior. However, the most endearing quality about him in my eyes was his sincerity. Just one look into his eyes, and you knew how considerate he was. The few times we were around one another or spoke, Derrick made it a point to inquire about others before speaking of himself. Another admirable quality among many, was his pursuit of God. The fervency of which he’d witness to people is/was infectious. One day I hope to be as on-fire as Derrick was. It is rare to come across someone who incites genuine camaraderie and encouragement. In essence it’s rarity to come across anyone of the caliber that Derrick was. To have known him was a privilege, and I’m thankful to God above for that. The day where we meet again cannot come soon enough, brother. Love ya Derrick, thank you for being a blessing to us all. 

This broke my heart. I knew Derrick since I was 12. He was my first crush. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. As I continue to pray for you. This broke my heart. We kept in contact throughout our adult lives too. Just a hey checking up on you, going both ways. He was a great friend.

Derrick Jr every single time I ever talked to your dad, he always always brought you up and talked about you. He loved you so much!!!

I remember Derrick as a little boy living next to me. He always had a smile and he was full of life. My prayers are with you Derrick and your family.

Derrick; I remember the day you were baptized. …The joy in your eyes. …Celebrating with you and your dad and my family at Wendy’s….. Praying and talking with you…. You left “heart prints” on me.

Derrick, I love you and will always love you! We knew each other just shy of 3 years. In that time you showed me love, friendship, things about our Father in heaven, and about life. You were my best friend, my husband and love! I love how goofy you are, you would have me laughing all day long! You always pushed me to be the best me I could be! I miss you everyday. 
Our relationship was unique and from the beginning we were faced with trials. We overcame so many and some were too much to handle. We always forgave each other and continued to be friends. Till the day you passed we were there for each other, I’m just sorry I couldn’t keep you from this parting. 
You loved God more than anyone I’ve ever met! Even those who love God suffer from torment and temptation. We know God delivers us from these things and now you are at peace. I have no doubt that I will see you again in heaven and be praising our Father with you for eternity! 
Thank you for loving me, for being apart of my life and for sharing your love for the Lord with me! You encouraged me, and added to my fire for the Lord! You taught me to be confident in my relationship with God and to never be afraid to share His love and word with those we come in contact with! 
I will love you forever, I miss you so much and I can’t wait to see you again! 
This isn’t goodbye, it’s just see you later. I love you best friend! ♥️
