Gi Hyun Pierce, aged 53, passed away peacefully in her home in Moreno Valley, Ca, surrounded by family, after a brief struggle with cancer, on March 12, 2018. Gi was born on April 24, 1964, the daughter of Bo Woo and Chu Ja Lee (Kim).
Gi was born and raised in South Korea. She graduated Bosung girls high school. She was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a 1 year mission for the church in Seoul, Korea. It was during this time that she became acquainted with Randall (Randy) James Pierce from California, USA, who was also serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After several months of correspondence Randy traveled back to Korea to ask for Gi's hand in marriage. They were married in Seoul Korea September 1985, then sealed in the LA temple, USA shortly after.
Gi and Randy had six children. Sadly, Randy passed away from a heart attack before the birth of their sixth child. Gi began working and going to school to support her family. Gi has always displayed an amazing ability to persevere through life's challenges with a positive attitude.
Gi had a great love of education and an admirable work ethic. Not even her 2013 Diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer slowed her down. She learned and mastered the English language quickly after moving to the Unites states with her Husband. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Psychology in 2012 from the University of Phoenix, and She worked as a Teachers Aid for the Riverside County office of Education.
She had a great love of reading, especially psychology books. She loved going to Disneyland, cooking, eating, listening to country music, and spending time with friends and family. Her fun, loving, and compassionate nature attracted many friends who became family.
She is survived by her mother, Chu Ja Kim and Father, Bo Woo Lee, her six children; Rebekah Palmer, Natalie Pierce, Daniel Pierce, Sarah Pierce, Jessica Pierce, Emily Pierce, five grandchildren, and a number of other relatives and close friends.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Gi touched are invited to attend a memorial service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 13281 Lasselle Street, Moreno Valley Ca 92553 at 10am, on Saturday April 7, 2018, to reminisce, grieve and support each other.
The Pierce family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff on the Hospice team at Kaiser for their attentiveness and loving care.
